Meet the Artist — Michele of Chromamoon Studio

Michele is the artist and maker behind Chromamoon Studio — a jewelry brand where glass, metal, and soul meet. She has been working with glass since 1996, mastering techniques from stained glass to intricate glass fusion. Her passion for the medium eventually led her to expand into metalsmithing, bringing even more depth and versatility to her designs.

Based on the west coast of Canada and originally from Durban, South Africa, Michele draws creative energy from her roots, her surroundings, and the natural world. Each piece is handcrafted from scratch using dichroic fused glass, 14k gold filled, recycled gold, sterling silver, and thoughtfully chosen semiprecious stones — with sustainability and quality woven into every step of her process.

Her work is grounded in intention. Michele believes that everyone should have access to beautifully made, one-of-a-kind jewelry — pieces that reflect identity, hold meaning, and can be worn every day as a form of self-expression and connection.

Michele's  Story

Michele’s creative journey is deeply rooted in her background in interior design, which she pursued as a young mom with an eye for structure, balance, and beauty. That foundation led her to launch a stained glass contracting business, where she created custom windows and installations. It was during the fusing of a centerpiece for art installation that she stumbled upon dichroic glass — a happy accident that changed everything. Drawn to its luminous layers and infinite possibilities, she began experimenting and soon developed an entire line of jewelry that allowed her to explore glass in a completely new, wearable way. In 2008, seeking a change of pace, Michele stepped into the corporate world, where she spent over a decade honing her skills in retail and business operations in the cosmetics industry. After 11 years, she returned to her creative roots with a renewed sense of purpose, an expanded artistic vision, and a deeper passion for creating meaningful handcrafted pieces.
